Antigen/Antibody Combo (4th Generation) HIV Testing Algorithm

What is the antigen/antibody combo (4th generation) test?

The 4th Generation HIV is the preferred testing method, recommended by the CDC. 4th Generation tests, also known as Ag/Ab tests, test for both  antigen (p24) and antibodies (IgM and IgG) and are capable of detecting an HIV infection 20 days earlier than the Western Blot test.
